The Royal Hotel, part of the James` Places Group have an exciting opportunity for Sous Chef to join their kitchen team.

Job Overview
We are seeking a passionate and skilled Sous Chef to join our dynamic kitchen team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in culinary arts and restaurant operations, with a commitment to delivering exceptional food quality and service.

As a Sous Chef, you will assist the Head Chef in managing kitchen operations, supervising staff, and ensuring adherence to food safety standards while fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Head Chef in the planning and preparation of high-quality dishes.
  • Supervise kitchen staff, providing guidance and support to ensure efficient food production.
  • Help maintain inventory levels and assist with ordering supplies as needed.
  • Ensure all food safety and hygiene standards are upheld in accordance with regulations.
  • Collaborate with the culinary team to create new menu items and improve existing offerings.
  • Train and mentor junior kitchen staff, promoting professional development within the team.
  • Oversee daily kitchen operations, ensuring timely service and exceptional quality.
  • Assist in maintaining cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Sous Chef or in a similar role within a restaurant environment.
  • Strong culinary skills with a solid understanding of food production techniques.
  • Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices.
  • Excellent leadership abilities with experience in supervising kitchen staff.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to facilitate teamwork.
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • A passion for hospitality and commitment to delivering outstanding customer experiences.
